CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES:
MAKING THEM WORK
A TWO PART WORKSHOP TO DEVELOP STRATEGY AND SKILLS FOR RUNNING CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

A recent research study* among senior HR Managers has shown that career development initiatives can significantly increase the retention of high calibre staff. Outplacement services have clearly given many managers leaving their employers the support, guidance and personal insight which has enabled them to find roles that suit them far better. The irony is that had career planning and development programmes been offered before they may have become winners in their old organisations.

CCS professional skills development workshops are designed to build the quality of the career management programmes you are offering, they include:

  • Reports of best practice
  • Consultations to develop the quality of your programmes
  • Discussion and professional supervision of current cases
  • Opportunity for practice and feedback of key skills beyond the 'core' level

This Two part workshop will be invaluable if you are intending to use Career Development Workshops to enable employees to more effectively plan their career and personal development. This could be because of:

  • a specific organisational 'driver', such as restructuring
  • a need to make better use of the results of Development and Assessment Centres for high potential managers by increasing 'ownership' of the feedback
  • a need to respond more efficiently and economically to the demand for individual career coaching and counselling
  • a wish to expand your current career development initiatives to include a greater number of employees.

Objectives

Part 1.

  • to develop your skills to run career development workshops

Part 2.

  • to learn from the 'best practice' of two organisations which have successfully launched such career development initiatives
