Features of the Training

  • Participants give and receive career coaching, based on the CCS Five Stage Model of career counselling
  • Practical skills training with feedback from experienced and practicing career coaches
  • Demonstrations of key skills and exercises by course tutors
  • Training in the use of two relevant questionnaires in career coaching
  • Comprehensive Course Manual which covers all aspects of the course, slides, booklists, references, handouts
  • Completion of key exercises from the CCS Self Assessment Manual. This provides 35 exercises, based on four important questions:
    1. Who am I?
    2. What do I want?
    3. What might help me? Stop me?
    4. How do I get there?
  • Practical exercises to complete between the modules
    CCS License is gained by successful completion of post-course test
  • Detailed feedback is given
  • Participants completing the training gain automatic membership of the CCS Alumni Association, with opportunities for CPD, a Newsletter and two learning events a year

By the End of the Course, Participants Will:

  • Have built their repertoire of skills and techniques to provide effective career coaching and counselling
  • Be more clear about how they can enhance or build their career support offering, based on sound ethical principles and professional standards
  • Be familiar with the most effective ways of combining exercises from the CCS Self Assessment Manual with career coaching and counselling
  • Be able to use two questionnaires covering the key areas of motivation, values and career drivers
  • Be more confident to use these tools in career discussions with staff and clients
  • Be able to used a staged framework of career counselling skills to support clients in addressing career-related issues
  • Understand the importance of screening and contracting in managing client expectations
  • Be aware of the importance of supervisory support and case discussion
  • Understand the importance of evaluation and ways to achieve this
  • Have experienced the process of career counselling both as a ‘client’ and as a coach
  • Have produced an Action Plan for professional and personal application.
