robert nathan managing directorRobert Nathan has been career coaching people at all stages of their career since 1978. He pioneered the training and practice of career coaching in the UK, and works with domestic and international organisations to develop internal career coaching support for staff. Rob supervises the work of professional career coaches, has set up the Masters in Career & Talent Management at Kingston University and is a Chartered Psychologist. Robert co-authored two successful books: ‘Career Counselling’ ( R Nathan & L Hill, Sage, 2006)  and ‘How to Survive Unemployment: Creative Alternatives’ (R Nathan & M Syrett, Penguin, 1984). He continues to write on coaching related topics, and regularly runs workshops for professional groups, such as the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology and the United National Career Development Roundtable.

With a training, psychology, counselling and business background, Gilly has worked as a Career coach and trainer with CCS since 1994. As well as working with a huge range of clients over the last twenty years, Gilly specialises in career coaching for Doctors and women returners. She has trained hundreds of HR professionals and others in career coaching skills. Gilly is a qualified coach supervisor and supervises the work of career coaches.

Gilly worked on the successful CCS bid and won a National Training Award for career coaching skills training for the BBC. She is the author of the CCS Networking Companion and co-author (with Rob Nathan) of the CCS Job Search Guide.

career coach kate mansfieldAfter 13 years in executive level HR Recruitment and interim management, and having had her young son, Kate Mansfield realised that her true passion lay in supporting individuals to truly find rewarding and fulfilling careers. She re-trained as a career coach and now works with clients in periods of career change and transition, as well as supporting them with job search strategies and marketing and action plans.

Kate works with a diverse range of clients but brings a particular depth of knowledge of working with HR professionals and helping them to navigate their chosen career paths, as well as those leaving corporate life to become interim managers. Kate is also particularly passionate about working with female leaders and women returning to the workplace after having children.

Kate is a qualified career coach trained by CCS and supported by her MSc in Organisational Behaviour. She also has completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Career & Talent Management from Kingston University. Kate is qualified to use the Strengthscope individual and team strengths based tool.

career coach kirsty tifftKirsty Tifft is a business psychologist and qualified chartered accountant specialising in career development and change coaching. She works with senior and middle management clients, primarily in the private sector (finance and professional services).

Prior to retraining as a psychologist (MSc City University 2011) Kirsty spent 20+ years working in blue chip financial services companies, in the UK and USA, with experience in accounting, internal and external audit, operational risk and human resource management. As a result, her coaching practice incorporates a practical understanding of the dynamics at play in professionally demanding work environments.

In addition to being a CCS trained career coach, Kirsty is also a bereavement counselor and does pro-bono work for the UK charity Cruse Bereavement Care. In her coaching practice she has a particular interest in supporting people through loss and bereavement and is uniquely placed to understand the impact grief can have on all aspects of a person’s life, including work performance.

Kirsty is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Association for Coaching, the Association for Business Psychology, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. She is qualified and registered to administer a range of personality tests and provide psychometric feedback.

career coach cathy brownAs a qualified career coach, Cathy Brown works with clients to address their career questions whether this involves reinventing a new career direction or looking at ways of enhancing their current work.

As an occupational psychologist, Cathy has well over a decade of experience in business and HR consulting. She has a Masters of Business Administration from the European School of Management, Paris, and has a Masters in Occupational Psychology with Birkbeck College, University of London.

She works as a business coach with the Prince’s Trust to help new business start-ups. She also is a guest lecturer on the general and executive MBA programme at Nottingham University. Cathy is the founder of Evolve Enterprise and the designer of Testing the Water questionnaire. Together with Rob Nathan, she has developed the Testing the Water Coaching Toolkit, which has helped many people consider their suitability for self employment. Organisations using Testing the Water include the BBC, Boots, Loughborough University and Shell International.

She worked in IT and management consultancy for over 20 years before taking a career break to undertake an MSc in Organisational Psychology and is now a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. She works primarily in the areas of career counselling, executive coaching and management development, with special interests in stress management and coping with life changes.

Karin holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and is certified as an NLP trainer.

course tutor eric deckerAs an Associate of Career Counselling Services, Eric Decker has led many workshops on Career Management, Supporting Staff through Change and Team Development. He also provides Transition Coaching for senior staff moving to new roles. Eric is also an Associate of Ashridge Management College, where he works as a coach on leadership development programmes.

Eric has worked within the arena of Executive Coaching and Leadership Development for over 17 years, and is an accredited coach with Ashridge Management College. He is a Business Psychologist, and a member of the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology. After training in Organisational & Occupational Psychology in 1987, Eric worked for British Telecom, within their Business Psychology Group, contributing to BT’s major leadership and culture change programmes. In 1992, he set up as an independent consultant adding both depth and breadth to his experience, particularly in such areas as: leadership coaching/training & personal, career and management development.

At Ashridge, he has worked as a leadership coach on the Ashridge Leadership Process (ALP), its ‘flagship’ leadership development programme, for the past 11 years. In addition, he provides on-going individual coaching on a number of ‘tailored’ Ashridge management development programmes. His experience extends to working with all levels of managers within organisations, from junior & middle managers to the executive board. As the current Head of Coach Development for the ALP, he monitors the progress of new coaches, and organises activities for the continuous professional development of an existing team of 25 coaches. His client base stretches across sectors, organisations and international borders.

As a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, Eric has certificates of Competence in Occupational Testing – Levels A & B. He is qualified and registered to use a wide range of personality tests, including the MBTI (Steps I & II), 16PF, OPQ, FIRO-B etc. and 360 degree instruments, such as PDI’s Profilor. Eric regularly provides psychometric feedback to delegates on a range of Leadership Programmes, as well as in his capacity as a career development coach.

As a trained Style & Colour Consultant, she is also able to help clients enhance their image in line with their career goals and job search.

As well as Channel 4, Natalie worked for John Lewis, PwC, KPMG and McLaren Technology Group as Head of Learning & Development. This mix of blue chip organisations has given her valuable insights into ‘best practice’ in many areas relevant to career coaching such as recruitment, interview practices, competency frameworks and assessment centres.

A qualified Career Coach since 2002, Natalie has worked with a wide range of people in the BBC, A+E Networks, AKQA, Warner Bros TV Production UK, Red Bull Media, Daily Express and Greenlight Digital.

Natalie holds a post-graduate level Executive Coaching Diploma (ILM Level 7, 2007), a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and of the Association for Coaching. Alexandra Rooney, Administrator, CCSAlexandra Rooney joined Career Counselling Services in 2008 and has a rather varied background. Born and raised in Vienna where she went to the Lycee Francais and took her baccalaureat, she later went to Lausanne to do a degree in Hotel Management. She lived and worked in several European countries and speaks German, French and Italian fluently.

Alex has often changed direction in her professional life, always following her intuition and what life had to offer at that moment. She is a true “Lebenskuenstler” (life artist) and adapts easily to new situations. Life means constant development and we never stop learning – that concept and her love of people has brought her to CCS, where she tries to organise all the coaches and course tutors and carries out the daily administrative tasks to run the operation.
